This book was the first I ever purchased on the Zulu War and one that I have refer to again and again. As the name suggests, it has many sketches, maps and early photographs. The text is broken down into easily defined chapters and deals with the events of the war chronologically. It's style is rather like a school text book and can be uninspiring for a light read but, in my opinion, is essential for any serious scholar of the Zulu War due to its concise and accurate information. If you want a single book that provides the facts of the Zulu War without rhetoric and embellishments, then this book is the one.
