Date | Original Topic | 28th April 2005 | 24th Collar Numerals By Nigel Hello all,
I'm trying to get a definitive answer on a question that has me much vexed - were the brass collar numerals for the 24th always a single item, or were they made up of seperate brass 2s and 4s? I ask because I have several period 2s and 4s in my collection, but have yet to find them as a single 24. I was told some time ago by a fellow collector in the US that both single 24s and seperate 2s and 4s were issued, but as yet I've been unable to substantiate that claim... | Date | Replies | 28th April 2005 | Pete Marshall I believe you'll find that single, white metal, '2' & '4' were used on tunics and brass '24' were used on undress-frocks.
Beware of replicas.
Cheers
Pete | 28th April 2005 | Nigel Thanks Pete, and well done for deciphering my trick question - by collar badge I meant shoulder numerals... | 28th April 2005 | Pete Marshall Actually, they're 'shoulder titles'.
Cheers
