27th May 2002An Organized Trip to the Battle Sites
By Stephen
Its obvious fromt this web site that there is a significant group of enthusiasts.
Alan etc., has your web site group ever thought of leading a tour of the Battle Sites?
A tour that is tailored to the people who continually look at this site. Perhaps if enough discussion and lead time was given a group could travel to the sites. Your thoughts? Cheers

Stephen,
worth thinking about. If enough enthusiasts are interested, something could be arranged. It would make sense to use Isandlwana, Babanonga or Fugtives' Drift lodges as a base. All excellent. They also have fully qualified guides and transport facilities. If anyone is interested, please let me know. A trip can be tailored according to the number of people involved and their particular preferences.

Alan,
I think it would be a great thing to organize, and its realistic too. Given that the people that contribute commments to this site are well versed on the Zulu War and are serious, it would be a great chance to get together at the actual battle sites.
In a nutshell, it would be a once in lifetime event.
Your suggestion to use Fugitive's Drift as a base is logical.
I think that, with enough lead time, and proper planning, a good tour could be organized.
I would come from Canada & I'm sure some of our contacts from the USA would come. The main point is enough leadtime for all of us to be able to arrange to meet at one place in South Africa. To be sure, it would not be cheap, but we how often in our lives could we get this chance.
RORKESDRIFTVC.COM taking a lead on this would be the way to go.
ANY COMMENTS FROM BRIT, US OR CAN?

after a recent visit to Isandlwana Lodge, I would thoroughly recommend this magnificent venue overlooking the battlefield and more cost effective than Fugitives.
