Date | Original Topic | 5th June 2002 | Individual soldier's movements By Edmund Coan I have just bought a Zulu War medal awarded to Pte.John Scanlan of the Transport section of the Army Service Corps. He was a member of the 'second invasion' force, but does anyone know how I can track down his movements once he was in Zululand? For example, I know the ASC went back to Isandhlwana on May 21 as part of the burial party. Is there any way I can find out if John was there?
Any help gratefully received. I have John's service record from the PRO but understandably, it does not give exact movements. I also notice a Pte.Scanlon was kia at Rorke's Drift. Can anyone confirm that Scanlon was the correct spelling and it's not Scanlan, just in case they are related? | Date | Replies | 12th June 2002 | A M Banks Try the Royal Logistic Corps museum at Deepcut, Surrey, UK [ASC became the RCT, which became the RLC!]. The curator is Sue Lines & I'm sure that she would be able to point you in the right direction. I hope this helps. Good luck! |
