3rd August 2002'Zulu' blunders
By Gerard Lynch
Being an avid reader of this site for some months I thought it time I made a literary contribution. Blunders in the film Zulu have featured on these pages from time to time, but nobody has yet pointed out two that I have seen. In the scene where the downed Chard is saved by the crutch wielding Sheiss, watch out for the magic belt. Chard is seen on his knees, belt open. The action cuts to Bromhead, then back to Chard who is now magically buckled up!
Also in the fight in the hospital, the same Zulu is killed twice. I know this bit was filmed in London but you'd have thought some attempt would have been made to disguise the skinny little bloke without the headring for his second death.
May I add that in submitting this for the interest and curiosity of your readers. I am not knocking the film in anyway. For its supposed flaws it remains my favourite film of all time, in my opinion the most awesome spectacle ever seen on a cinema screen and a score second to none.
Finally has anyone ever seen a Zulu in the film wearing a wrist watch? I have read a few articles over the years that claim this to be true but I've never spotted it despite watching it countless times over the last 38 years.
