Date | Original Topic | 5th October 2002 | Zulu Victory - The Epic of Isandlwana & The Cover Up By Alex Have just finished reading this excellent new book on the battle of Isandlwana by Ron Lock and Peter Cottrell.
I have also noted the previous discussion regarding Clery, and note that in this book it is suggested that there is sufficient evidence to indicate doubt that Clery ever did or had reason to give written orders to Pulleine prior to departing Isandlwana as there was no panic at the time of his departure.
It also suggests that the previous information in response to 'Sallys' question is incorrect and that if any verbal orders were given they were done so by Crealock not Clery.
