Date | Original Topic | 21st June 2001 | Gonville Bromhead's death By John Young With the correspondence started by Jack Fending over Gonville Bromhead, I started looking through my available resources as to his death. I was surprised to discover some variations on his date of death.
"The Register of the Victoria Cross" states 10th February 1891.
"Historical Records of the 24th Regiment" states in two places p.283 & p.311 - 7th February 1891.
Norman Holme in "Silver Wreath" & "The Noble 24th" has the date as 9th February 1891, as does Atkinson in "The South Wales Borderers".
Anyone aware of any further variation?
John
