5th November 2002 | steven my best parts were with reynolds.i like the way he doctored the people. im not related to the actor who played renolds but im related to the real reynolds. it would be soooo cooool if i was related to both. |
6th November 2002 | Leigh Tarrant Numerous things. !!! Seeing the film in Cinerama on the big semi oval screen in about 1972 when I was 12!!! What an impression it had. The music, The frightenening approaching Zulu's, the 'train' sound with their shields before you see them!!! Michael Caine looking absolutely knackered towards the end of the film added so much realism....Seeing all those Zulu's form a long line on the hillside before the attack.....Also the bit where Hitch gets hit by a bullett on the mealie bag....Nasty, You could feel the pain he was in!!! So so much of that film has made a great impression on me, and the way epic cinema should be... |
6th November 2002 | John Young The singing of "Men of Harlech", all right I know it didn't happen - but it has stuck with me since 1964.
As I got older - Adendorff's one-liners - they're great.
Leigh,
re-your's above I spoil the illusion re-the forming on the hillside - two Zulus one on either end of a plank of wood with shields nailed to it!
John Young. |
6th November 2002 | Alex Rossiter I agree with John ..the men of harlech sequence was my fave , followed by the first attack (1st time the zulus reched the walls) when ardendof helps chard!.
I wish they'd re-relese zulu at the cinema so people who wernt born then could see it how it was meant to be seen "on the big screen" |
6th November 2002 | Mark Hobson My favourite bit of the film has to be when Corporal Schiess leaves the hospital with toilet paper trailing from his foot! |
7th November 2002 | Leigh Tarrant I Love the line by Caine "There's that dam train again" !!!! (The tension mounts.........!!!!!)
Also the infamous line in the hospital by Hook..
re: Ulla Jacobsson..."You Know What she Needs!" ..........Cool daring line for 1964.!!!! |
8th November 2002 | Alan Critchley I've already posted my favourites on my polo shirts in the shop.
1. Al...right then. Nobody told you to stop workin' (Bourne)
2. Rather you asked first old boy! (Bromhead)
3. Do be quiet now will you? There's a good gentleman. (Bourne)
4. Why us?(Cole) Because we're 'er lad. Nobody else. Just us! (Bourne)

8th November 2002 | Barry Iacoppi How about the classic where Bourne tells a young soldier to do up the top button of his tunic and adds Where do you think are lad. |
8th November 2002 | John S Radburn Mark

10th November 2002 | Diana Blackwell The brandy scene, natch. |
18th November 2002 | Geoff Melling Like many other replies, it was the 'Men of Harlech' which manages to stir my Welsh blood everytime I see/hear it. I would have enjoyed James Booth's scenes of Hook more if his portrayal of Hook hadn't been so inaccurate!!!! |
