Date | Original Topic | 20th July 2001 | 80th Regiment at Isandlwana? By Michael George Hi,
I understand that the 80th regiment (Staffordshire volunteers) were not at Isandlwana, then how did at least two men (one getting the VC for saving the other from the Buffalo river)be at, and escape from Isandlwana? | Date | Replies | 20th July 2001 | John Young Michael,
The 80th men were attached to 1st Squadron, Mounted Infantry from their parent unit.
Six other ranks from the 80th perished at Isandlwana. Private T. Westwood & Private Samuel Wassall V.C. survived.
