Date | Original Topic | 18th October 2001 | Private William Osbourne By Suzanne Skinner I am after some help in trying to trace the family history of Private William Osbourne 1480, 2nd Battlalion, 24th Regiment. I believe he might have been a family memeber and would just love to find out some more info. thanks | Date | Replies | 18th October 2001 | Martin Everett Suzanne,
Pte william Osborne came from Cambrian Row, Blaenavon, Monmouthshire and died there in February 1931 aged 72. He enlisted at Pontypool on 28 November 1877. Not much else I can tell you as his army papers have not survived. But he was at RD on 22/23 January 1879 as a member of B Company. | 24th October 2001 | Lee Stevenson William Osborne married a Martha Whitcombe. She was the daughter of a Joseph Whitcombe of Abersychan.
They had at least one child a daughter, who later became Mrs S.Williams. One adopted son William Osborne, formerly William Burnell.
A William O. Burnell, (nephew), was the informant on Pte W. Osborne death certificate. He also cousins, named Curtis, Moody and Vaughan all from the Blaina area
