Date | Original Topic | 23rd June 2003 | Pt Chick By Simon Copley I was in Trinity Methodist church, Penarth and noticed that one of the names on the role of honour for 1914-18 was an E.Chick. Given that this is an unusual name and a South Wales location I wondered if this was a relation of the Pt Chick who was KIA at RD?
Any thoughts? | Date | Replies | 23rd June 2003 | Martin Everett Simon,
Your guess is as good as mine. Edwin Chick who served with 14th Battalion The Welch Regiment died on 20 September 1918. He was born in Penarth and served initially in the Glamorgan Yeomanry. He was the husband of Florence Chick of 15 Grove Terrace, Penarth.
I do not know where 25B/1335 Pte James Chick of D Company 2/24th - died at Rorke's Drift - was born so I cannot say there was a connection.
