Date | Original Topic | 6th November 2003 | Unusual converted Martin-Henry cartridge case By Chris Tapster I acquired today a Martin-Henry cartridge case which has had a hinged lid fitted to it. The workmasnship is perfect, so I suspect that this was done by a jeweller or similar. Has anyone come across anything similar, and does anyone know the intended purpose?
Grateful for any ideas. Many thanks. | Date | Replies | 9th November 2003 | Adrian Whiting Chris,
I've seen other cases, but never a 577/45, converted like you describe to hold toothpicks.
Does the case have any markings at all ?
Adrian | 9th November 2003 | Chris Tapster Hi Adrian,
No markings at all on the case. One suggestion I've had is that it may be a needle case possibly made up by a soldier for his sweetheart's sewing box.
