Date | Original Topic | 8th February 2004 | Did trooper walter stimson play an organ before the Battle of Isandhlwana? By Jennifer Jones It has been suggested by Martin Everett that someone might be able to help me to find out why my gt uncle Walter Edye of the NMP stayed behind at Isandhlwana and was kiled there? The family story is that he stayed to play the organ at the Sunday service - but Ian Knight thinks it unlikely there would have been an organ there!! Any help to solve this family mystery/legend would be most gratefully receieved | Date | Replies | 8th February 2004 | John Young Jennifer,
I think it unlikely as well that there was an organ, save perhaps mouth-organs in the camp at Isandlwana. Coupled with the fact that he met his death on a Wednesday.
