Date | Original Topic | 5th May 2004 | virus !!!!! be carefull By steve blunden i received an email from someone called [email protected] with an attachment that was a virus - luckily did not open it - please be ultra cautious | Date | Replies | 6th May 2004 | John Young Steve,
Likewise, I've had one from '[email protected]' this morning.
John | 10th May 2004 | Peter Critchley Hi there,
This is what's called "Spoofing". The malicious little so-and-so pretends it comes from an address stored on the senders computer, so you'll never know where the original came from..
Please rest assured, both Alan and myself are fully protected against viruses using Sophos Anti-Virus.
Good advice however, always check the content of any email with a reputable virus application prior to opening it.
All the best,
Peter
Webmaster | 16th May 2004 | Steven Sass Hi,
My virus was sent in a message from '[email protected]' with the subject being "re:corrected." Luckily my server has virus protection as well as the stuff I have on my computer. This is odd as it certainly does not come from my address book.
Best to all,
Steven | 16th May 2004 | John Young Steven,
Interesting, as the owner of that e-mail address died last year - now the virus creators are grave-robbing!
