Date | Original Topic | 19th May 2004 | H.B Pulleine, Camp Commander Islandwana. By David Alan Gardner Poor Pulleine had a tough job on the day of the battle, from an early start, things went from bad to worse.
Could the unenviable situation he inherited been improved upon?- did he do as well as could have been expected?
Could things have been any different? | Date | Replies | 2nd June 2004 | AMB David,
Where does one start?
He could have laagered his waggons; he could have not over-extended his line; and at the first sign of the Zulu, he could have formed square. He did not do any of these. He failed to conduct a proper estimate of the situation and payed the price.
Hey, all too easily said sat at this PC and not just about to have 20k + Zulus run at me!
