I just receved a copy of an letter sent to pte 1061 John Jobbins from a penpal who lived in Natel, South Africa.
Was this Common within the Rorke's Drift Defenders to have penpals?

I was told by a family member today that Pte 1061 John Jobbins was offerd a V.C , but he did not want one. Does anyone know anything about this.
