I see today in the newspaper that Christopher Cazenove has died after a short illness, a well known actor of films and T.V, he played Lt Coghill in the Film Zulu Dawn.

B company of the 1/24 was commanded by Captain Henry Harrisson [correct spelling] the company was stationed at Port st John's in the Eastern Cape, and never served in the zulu war.

Hi all, This story of Vereker giving up his horse, appears in the Boy's Own Paper during 1879, with an illustration that has appeared in two modern books on the subject since.
