I am trying to find out if anyone has any information concerning Private 1266 John Bough late of the 2/3 Regiment - The Buffs. Private Bough was killed in action at the Battle of Nyezane on the 22nd January 1879 while advancing up Wombane Hill.

The only source are the pay and muster rolls of the 2/3rd before January 1879. One of the entries may give a clue to his place of enlistment. His service papers would not have survived in the National Archives at Kew. The Pay & Muster Rolls are in Kew.

Adding to Martin's comment in the same Pay & Muster Rolls, you may well find a next-of-kin listed to receive any owed payments or monies from sale of effects.
