Hi everyone,
Have just received an article on the Martin-Henry rifle from one of my relatives. It appeared in The Shooting Gazette for March 2008 under the above title, sub-title reading 'The 1960s film Zulu paid tribute to remarkable heroism but, as Chris Austyn explains, this would not have been possible without the Martini-Henry .450 rifle.' It appears to be part of a series on Gunmaking History.
There is a colour photo from Zulu of Michael Caine and Stanley Baker (from the sequence where Chard is wounded) and the article contains many quotes fronm those present at Rorke's Drift, such as Hitch, Hooke and Chard. Ian Knight is also quoted, so is Saul David.
Has anyone else seen this? I'm not really qualified to comment on it further so other opinions would be interesting.
Best Wishes,
Margaret McFarlane
