Neil,
The current temperatures do not reflect the seasonal norm. In the past month we have witnessed a daily shift from 9/14 to 12/28. The day time norm/average for this time of the year is 28/31 with humidity to match. Be prepared for anything! |

Peter...the idea was to make sure one is prepared for all seasons even though it is summer......yesterday another cold front moved through bringing the temps down to 11/16...and on Saturday we experienced high winds and 16/32....exstremes???. Average for December in this area is 15/28, 120mm rain (afternoon thunder showers) in 12 days Neil...enjoy your visit Paul |

Hello Paul, many thanks for your weather updates. They are appreciated not only for those going to Rorke's Drift, but by those who have already been and are curious about conditions at this time of year.
Can you tell us how the Buffalo/Mzinyathi River looks now, as compared to mid-October? Thanks, Tim |

The idea was to reflect weather norms in the area From records 1966- 1990 the following Avg daily max 29deg Avg daily min 16deg Highest recorded 39deg, lowest recorded 8deg...so we have seen exstremes as yesterday was 34 and to-day maybe even higher...all in the space of one week? December rains have been a bit slow in coming 16mm to-date against a average of 112mm. Last year the road to FD washed away just after Xmas 80mm/24. Therefor the river is running low (on average) but could change overnight. One must also realize that RD weather does not fit into the regions norm and varies somewhat. So if you are watching public services take note you may be surprized Paul |
