Now there's a pity.

I don't (can't) bid on e-bay.

Good luck to the person that acquires these items.

I'll be most envious.

Thanks for letting me know Jeff.

Coll, If you were really serious about this or the other costume (O'Tooles and Lancaster's) it's an public auction house that would allow you to bid outside of Ebay as a normal "absentee bidder".

The reason I can't bid is the cost of these items tend to go into hundred(s) of pounds, which is well beyond what I can afford.

Burt Lancaster's (Durnford's Wink ) costume I would have really liked to own, but impossible to obtain financially.

Thanks for letting me know though.

Coll, I call it "spending money I don't have on things I don't need", but it seems to work for the leaders of most countries, so just consider your bidding on such things as doing your patriotic duty.

Since the pound is worth $1.62 down from a high of $2, even more reason.

Is that the Burt Lancaster items auction closed at $340.00 ?

If so, does that mean it sold for between 100-200 ?

Sold to a bidder in the room - click on "History" to view. Don't forget the 18% commission, plus postage and packing. But one could argue that the lot was good value at that price.

Coll,
If I detect a note of surprise and regret in your written tone , you've always got to keep in mind that because something sold for $10 , it doesn't necessarily follow that you could have bought it for $11. For all you know, the fellow who won it might have been willing to spend $50 on that item he only paid $10 for and all you might have been doing by bidding is raising the price hammer price. Sometimes that's no consolation, but on the other hand that thinking might help.
My other rule of auctions is that no matter how ridiculous a price I end up bidding to order to win, there's at least one other person in the World who is almost (but not quite) as irrational as I am!

I'm sure the successful bidder will be the same as myself and understands the true value of such items.

I'd still have like them though Sad
