Smile ,
One of my all time favourite actors is Burt Lancaster , do we know why he was the man chosen to play Durnford in " Zulu DAWN " ? .If this has been covered elsewhere let me know, fine actor that he was were there no English / British actors approached to play this role ? . Sapper . Wink

Thanks for the link.

Sapper

Yes. I liked ol' Burt too, although I think his playing Durnford had something to do with the funding of the film. He was alright in it, but would have been better had he been 20 years younger. 46 is nearer to the age Col. D. was, rather than 66.

I can't help but visualise what Stanley Baker would have been like portraying Col. D., although the film may still not have been a success, him being in it created a strong link with 'Zulu'.

I'm hoping they make a good choice for the next Isandlwana film, should it appear. Quite a few ideas on who would be suited to the role, minus the awful accent.
