Oddly enough, just yesterday I was giving a lecture on Hollywood's representation of race, with reference to "blaxploitation" films of the 1970s such as "Sweet Sweetback" (incidentally, the term "black exploitation film" was first used by the NAACP to distance itself from the movies and their "distorted" portrayal of black culture). The film I showed with the lecture was "Mandingo" - hugely controversial in its day (1975) and rarely revived now (it's never been shown on British terrestrial TV), but a great film nonetheless.

Very good Sheldon.. I would've liked to have been there. I probably would've raised my hand... Cool . You know when I "go south" I hope to make it a point to do some research and get some insight on "Zulu" when it played down there. Hopefully, some will have remembered! I will pass on if I have anything useful to report.
