You may have seen on the Events listing page that ZULU will be screened at 8.30pm on Wednesday 14 December at The Showroom, Sheffield, following a free talk I will be giving on my research for the making-of book (the first of what I hope will be several such events at regional film theatres around the country).

ZULU will also be shown at the National Film Theatre in London on 4 and 7 January, as part of a Michael Caine season which also includes THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING on 7 and 9 January.

The NFT will also be providing an exceptionally rare opportunity to see the 1929 version of THE FOUR FEATHERS - two screenings, actually, on 10 and 20 December, both on a double bill with THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME aka THE HOUNDS OF ZAROFF.

If you see me at any one of these, do say hello...

Good luck with the Sheffield show. Are you coming "down south" at all?

Will your talk be made available in print or other media for those of us who can't attend? I'd gladly pay a reasonable price for a transcript or videotape.

Peter,
I did offer a similiar event to the NFT some time ago, but they weren't interested. I also let it be known that I'd like to do an introduction for one of the Caine season screenings, but heard via my contact that their events diary was 'full'. Perhaps you could start a letter-writing campaign? Other locations remain undecided as yet.

Diana,
I don't always write my lectures out in a way that would be intelligible to anyone but me! I'm not sure that a print version would work without my planned illustrations anyway, but I'll see what I can do...

Do we need to book in advance or just turn up?

Colin,

I doubt the film screening will sell out, but the room in which the talk will take place is quite small so you might want to book a (free) ticket for that. The cinema box office is on 0114 275 7727. Hope to see you there.

Richard,

A second signing and screening has just been set for Newcastle upon Tyne at the Tyneside Cinema on 14 January at 1.30pm. I hope that similar events can be arranged for Edinburgh and/or Glasgow, but we shall have to see how Sheffield and Newcastle do!

It's a long shot... but now you mention it, there WILL be screenings and signings in Bradford, West Yorkshire, on Saturday 11 March at 3.00pm and Birmingham (UK, not Alabama) on Thursday 6 April at 7.15pm. More details to follow.
