Most of the info you seek will be on the forum. However, some reasons are - Fortified position. Enough ammunition. Small all round defence perimeter, unlike Isandlwana where the firing line was outflanked. Zulus couldn't fight with their whole number around the barricades at Rorke's Drift due to confined area, limiting how many could actually be engaged at any one time, so their numbers actually worked against them. Zulus didn't follow through their first attack against the the defences, where overwhelming numbers on one side of the perimeter would have swamped the defenders, instead engaging in numerous charges. Zulus had few firearms and of very poor quality and marksmanship. I'm sure others will add more reasons in detail. Coll |
