George Morris was killed in action at Isandlwana and his effects were claimed by his mother, Jane.

I believe a number of his letters are now residing in the Regimental Archive.

Does anyone know if they contain ANY geographical details of his family? I would be most interested to know where he originated from.

I've consulted The Noble 24th and a few other of my (limited) library of books but can't find anything except he enlisted at Brecon.

Thanks in advance

Jon

Dear Jon,

The Internet is a marvellous tool - however, I believe you would get much more a thrill if you come to Brecon and read the letters for yourself.

Personally I find the internet not much of a tool at all. Unless you want to do some online shopping. This is without doubt an excellent forum but unfortunately it is the exception and not the rule. As I have said on this forum before it is always my way to go to primary sources. Unfortunately circumstances dictate I will not be able to visit Brecon until late April.

I did however buy England's Sons from you this month online. Most excellent it was too.
