Just wondering if anybody knew where I could acquire a copy of the Zulu screenplay. I know that most of us know the words off by heart, but I am just curious as to whether such a thing exists in print or on the internet

I also wonder if anybody knows the whereabouts of reviews of Zulu from the 1960s. I spend a couple of days looking through Sight and Sound and Screen magazines, but found pittance! Its such a shame that very few newspaper and film archives are online, as I'm sure the attitudes expressed in them would be of great interest to read.

Peter,
the question was raised here in 2003, to no avail.

I've got 2 original scripts in the Zulu exhibition at Cardiff Castle - a shooting script with all dialogue and scenes not in the final film, and a full editing script with all final dialogue, music, and sound effect cues.

Not for sale though! Sorry.

Will let you know if I come across any others.

With the necessary copyright permission, couldn't someone with an original 'Zulu' screenplay, get it published, in order to make it available to the public ?

Posters, dvds and books on the subject can be bought, but the purchasing of the screenplay, which would be a fantastic addition, can't be obtained.

Filmmaker - there was mention a couple of years ago about the Zulu script(s) being published for the benefit of us avid enthusiasts (by yourself?) which if including both the versions you possess, would be of great interest to all, especially us wannabe screenwriters wanting to attempt their own versions of Rorke's Drift or Isandhlwana. Not that the success of Zulu would 'rub off' on a new screenplay, but it is definitely a script most I'm sure are hoping to obtain.

It is possible to buy many books on the Zulu War 1879, and versions of the dvd, but I think if an enthusiast was asked what crucial item is missing from their collection it would be the screenplay(s), both the shooting script and final editing script, as on a personal note, it appears to be that the film started many a person on the road to their Zulu War interest.

As a pitch, I should add, that the income obtained from such could be put towards more additions to the Zulu War Exhibition, so a win-win situation all round.
