The British abandon the weak barricade in front of the hospital and retire to the 'dog-leg' barricade as the Zulus over run the weak barricade and make a series of attempts to break into the hospital itself......The Lt.

Trooper Sydney H. Hunter fires at an approaching Zulu Warrior killing and quickly reloading to fire again in the mean time private William Jones/595 is doing the same......The Lt.

The defenders continuing to draw the Zulus away from the hospital slowly begin to retreat confliting heavy casualties as they withdraw.....The Lt.

The defenders being forced to fall behind the dogleg breastworks are also face with the Zulu marksmen position in the shallow caves and crevices on the slopes of Shiyane hill as the British marksmen return their fire...The Lt.

A Zulu Warrior gets of a lucky shot hitting a defender high in the shoulder while Private James Dunbar fires his rifle dropping his ninth Zulu in as many shots.....The Lt.

Lieutenant Chard joins the defenders at the south wall firing his pistol with little or no effect soon to be replaced by the rifle he's bearing. The Zulu marksmen continue firing down as two lucky shots wound both private Lyons and coporal Allen coming to his assitance...The Lt.
