There's a nice, long article about Zulu called "Men of Harlech: Zulu" in James Chapman's book, which was published in 2005 by I.B. Tauris but seems to have gotten very little attention. Chapman considers Zulu's political implications and defends the film against many of the usual accusations. He also compares and contrasts Zulu with other films such as Culloden and Zulu Dawn.

Has anybody else read this book?

Hi Diana,

Yes, me! I read a pre-publication draft (referred to in a footnote in my own book) and gave James many corrections of factual detail on the film's production. He in turn wrote a very complimentary review (totally objective, of course!) of my book in the "Journal of British Cinema and Television", the reviews section of which he edits. His book is well worth getting, not just for its coverage of "Zulu".

Best, Sheldon
