Thanks for that ref on the 9th Legion. Looking forward to that film! Hope thye do it well...... Kind of interesting to know that pone of the books which the film is based on and that got me into history was, in fact, Rosemary Sutcliffe's "Eagle of the Ninth". It captured my imagination completely. I mean when I was kid many many moons ago I couldn't beleive a Roman legion could be "destroyed" or even lose a battle for that matter. Heck, as history and time marches on boy what did I know |

Centurion appears to be the one to see, which has a couple of the actors from '300' in it. On that note, a new series called 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' has started, using the same filming methods as '300' - greenscreen, etc. Has a similar feel to the film, but for a tv series, which is interesting, as perhaps more tv historical series, namely based on the Zulu War, might arise, if this technology isn't just saved for the big screen, therefore we could see large scale battles aimed for television audiences - Isandlwana : The Mini-Series. and/or Rorke's Drift : The Mini-Series. They would lead nicely up to a drama based on an Isandlwana C.O.I. A complete trilogy - A Defeat. A Victory. A 'What If ?' Investigation. Coll |

Rorke's drift based on the "24" format - shot in real time.... Starring Gonville "Bauer" Bromhead....... The body count would be similar. Ho hum.

'Rorke's Drift based on the '24' format' - isn't a bad idea. It'd need a writer who understands characters/personalities and an essential 'grip' on dialogue/interaction between them, all the time building up the tension, going from calm to storm, then their recovery from the events. Coll |
