Just noticed that there's a new book being released about the Colonial Units, including their muster rolls: http://www.tokenpublishing.com/shop.asp?pid=7750.

Does anyone know any more about this work?

Regards

Limited print run, not cheap, probably the best reference work for the colonial units on the market at the moment.

If I wanted medal to colonial units I'd buy this first.

Andrew,

Just got my copy.

As Peter says, not cheap, but it looks a superb piece of work.

A great many thanks for the heads up.

My copy arrived today. Well worth the money and an excellent piece of work. I suspect that there is nothing "new" among the accounts of the units, but this combines them in a single volume and saves having to scour half a dozen other books.

What is new is the level of medal on the men who served - forenames, enlistment and discharge dates, and odd snippets.

So a welcome addition to the library.

I should add that the focus is on the war against Cetewayo. So units that didn't feature in the campaign, such as the Cape Mounted Yeomanry, are not included.

Awesome, thanks for the reviews gents! 45 is quite a lot for one tome, but if it does collate several books together, then I too will succumb and purchase it! Laughing Inevitably it will prove its worth during research!

Thanks again

45 pounds, eh? For you. For me much more being here in the States. They tack on a hefty shipping charge too. Looks like it's getting more and more expensive to study the AZW. I'm going to ask Alan and Peter if I can get coupons here............. Wink

Rich,
10% off if you collect.
I didn't know that was your name, I thought it was a description.

heh heh I guess I now have disabused you of that fanciful notion. I am not repeat not a "trustafarian" nor am I reaping the benefits of my input to a social system which will be creaking with all seeking to empty out their part of the account shortly!.... Wink I am a simple man..thank you Alan!
I will be saving my "pence".
