I seem to have a first edition as the page number and maps are the same

My copy is signed by Prof J Phillips ( mentioned in the Preface ) Paddy's Valley 1949

Normally a map insert / caption will have some notation to indicate where it came from , normally close by or on the same page -- that is why I was wondering ?

I did notice about Metcalfe -- was he also at Wits ? Does not really say much about who he was ?
