Remember seeing him in Young Winston when it came out, and enjoyed it. A difficult part for anyone to play. I still tend to think of him as looking exactly like that - very young and even younger than his years - because I must admit not being able to recall seeing him in anything else at all since, apart from in Zulu Dawn in recent years, long after that film originally came out. Through no fault of his, I rather detested his part in that, as the role itself was almost entirely fictional, often ridiculously so. Still, no more than several of the parts in ZULU, I suppose!
Difficult to imagine him as 70 and not still in his 20s or early 30s. P. |

I guess he was lucky to have made it to 70, after the serious brain injury he suffered quite a few years back.

I liked his touch in ZD where he didn't swig the claret all up and noted there'd be plenty of it to go "all around!" For some reason, I always remember that scene from the picture.
