Hi all
Can anyone tell me, where in Great Britain I could view a Martini Henry mark V ammunition box with a tin lining, does one exist or do I have to travel to South Africa?
The Box has been well discussed but the lining is still a mystery I am trying to make a box with a correct working lining.
Many thanks.

Hello,

I happen to have a MkIV MH box with tin lining (minus the detachable section!), and a similar MkI for Snider. I can send jpegs if that assists. I am in Dorset and if you are this way you are welcome to examine the boxes.

Hi Adrian
Me again. yes please any information would be a great help.
Believe the mk 4 inner lining, is very different to the mk 5 lining in its manufacture. Believe they used less pieces to make completed lining in the mk5.
Very much enjoying the discovery of information. The making of the ammo box will be the easy bit, but need to fill in all the loose ends, be for I start.
Lester.
