I have today been informed by the Zulu Royal House of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Joseph M. Zulu.

'J. M.' - as he preferred to be called - was the Great-Grandson of Prince Dabulamanzi kaMpande.

I know that some of the forum met 'J. M.' at the Royal Engineers Museum's Zulu War event that was held in late May 2003/early June 2003.

He was a proud promoter of Zulu history and he had a great knowledge of the oral history relating to the Zulu War.

He was an imposing figure in more ways than one, and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Go Well 'J.M.'

hamba kahle umNtwana.

That's sad news. When I was at Ulundi in 2003, Prince Joseph very kindly gave me the full tour of the area in his battered
pick-up truck (bakky). Prince Shange had arranged that we should meet.
As John says, he was an imposing figure, partly because of his habit of stopping every so often for chips, and our time in the bar
at the Holiday Inn. He took me to the airport at the end and I felt privileged to have spent time with him. R.I.P.
