This is a very interesting subject, especially in the page that covers the using of the name ZULU for the craft, detailing how it appears some Scots felt about the Zulu War 1879.
Calling the ship a Zulu seems to have been to honour the warriors, even while the war was still ongoing apparently. You always hear of the public reaction in England, but not Scotland as much, it is quite intriguing to read a differing opinion of the time, and a connection somewhat between themselves and the Zulus https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/11797988/the-zulu-herring-drifter-museum-stavanger Also ordered The Mighty Zulu book by Joseph Reid. https://www.scotfishmuseum.org/zulu-gallery.php |
