My First And Best Choice Who Should Have Been In Zulu Dawn |

With the passing of Sean Connery, I reflected on my initial choice of actor to portray Col. Durnford in Zulu Dawn, it was him at the age he was in A Bridge Too Far, I also liked Anthony Hopkins from that film to portray Col Pulleine, as it was a fine example of two main officers trying to unite forces on a battlefield.
Starring with Michael Caine in The Man Who Would Be King, confirmed how excellent he would have been in the role, better a Scots accent than an American trying to talk Irish, and nearer the right age, I think so anyway. Decided now that he has passed to purchase this photograph of him from A Bridge Too Far to put beside my Simon Smith painting - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Poster-Corp-Connery-wearing-beret/dp/B07CD1M9T4 https://www.moviestore.com/anthony-hopkins-188558/ A missed opportunity to put in a solid and commanding actor like him in the role of the senior commander. It appears, on another AZW site, that Jude Law might be the preferred choice for the role in a new Isandhlwana film, and after seeing him in the Sherlock Holmes film, I fully agree with this idea. |
