Im always fascinated by how the British were so confident in their weaponry and tactics at Isandhlwana, yet the Zulu Horns Of The Bull was used so similarly by Hannibal at Cannae against the Romans.

Considering just how little they concerned themselves about the Zulus, it is surprising that the latters tactics had been used previously by a famous commander to defeat a professional army, even though his force numbered less than them on that occasion, by utilising the double-envelopment.

It just shows the Zulu generalship was superb, in managing to command 20,000 warriors to accomplish a victory in 1879.

Im still in awe of the Zulus today, although they won the battle but lost the war.

The study of Cannae is a must in my opinion, to appreciate just how the Zulus were so much more advanced than other tribes, plus extremely courageous and willing to endure devastating casualties, that would have deterred a European army to sustain such similar losses.
