can you tell me where you saw this photo. I think I've seen it before
but not 100% certain.

Many thanks, Colin Fielding(great-grandson John Williams/Fielding)

Follow this link:

http://www.dnw.co.uk/dnw/medals/FMPro?-db=dnwmedals&-format=itemdetailmedals.htm&-lay=master&Description%20ex%20Estimate=rorke's&-max=10&-recid=33812&-find=

Failing that, go to dnw.co.uk, then medals, then search catalogue.

Hope that works.

The officers are, from left to right

Major Mitchell, Captain Webb, Colonel Lewis, T.D., Colonel Brownrigg, D.S.O., and Captain Windsor, M.C.

I believe the photograph, complete with autographs, appeared in an old SWB Regtl. journal....perhaps Martin could confirm that

How did you do that?

And don't say "Magic!"

Peter, there's a central storage area that houses any picture which you place in it.
It provides a code which, when placed with your reply calls up the image.
What's that if not 'Magic'?

But how do I find the sercret passage to the storage area?

I had a look through the tabs above and couldn't see anything obvious i.e., nothing in FAQ.

Maybe I am just being stupid (not for the first time).

Peter,
there are several of these about. If you go to
http://reg.imageshack.us/
or
http://s71.photobucket.com/ (I couldn't work this one)
you can take it from there.

Personal seal of Pte John Williams VC

I received an e-mail asking me to post this. All very curious (and I didn't open the attachment). Don't know why he couldn't do it himself (but I think it may have to do with internet access at work) here it is for what it's worth (since we already blew the page width I'll repeat it) :

Well out of my price range but interesting none the less. (Provenance is listed at the bottom of the page.)

Well, never seen anything like that before.

Before parting with that amount of money I would hope that the provenance would be written, not hearsay; I wonder which is the case here.

I accept with high value items, some bidders prefer their identity not to be revealed but I don't like auctions that are not transparent as you have no idea who is bidding against you.

Well someone thought it worth the money. They must have been convinced of its authenticity. A lot of cash.
