In going over the old discussion forum, I came across a fascinating on line journal, The South African Military History Society, which has many articles on the AZ & AB Wars. One small article is about Lt. JA Roberts, no. 2 troop, Sikali Horse, NNH complete with photo from the Natal Mercury.

In Mr. Snook's fascinating book he suggets that poor Lt. Roberts was the victim of friendly fire from the RA guns at Isandlwana (pg.187) Sad

The photo doesn't come from the Natal Mercury.

I noticed that the article you mentioned on roberts was incomplete. I mentioned it to the archivist who had indeed missed a small piece out. It's now corrected.
