Read this in the paper today, although most will probably know already.

With Jude previously playing Alfie in the Caine film of the same name, and now this, I wonder if they'll have a chat about a 'Zulu' remake ?

I'm sure Jude will have seen or at least been aware of the original 'Zulu' and hopefully will express an interest.

How would he portray Bromhead in a new film ?

Not very likely, for all the obvious reasons: a remake of "Zulu" would be vastly more expensive than that of a small-scale theatrical two-hander, which is obviously being sold on the hook of Caine's casting in the "other" role following his appearance in the original 1972 version. The remake of "Alfie" was a flop, remember...

I don't want to be chased off the forum, but...

for an inexpensive remake of "Zulu," the producers could always take Caine and Law down to Isandhlwana, shoot some scenes there...and then fill in the rest through computer animation! Wink

Yes, but they also need a script, a film crew, some other actors - and CGI is rather expensive, despite what you might think! It might actually be cheaper just to hire 4,000+ Zulu extras...

Dear Sheldon and Barbara,
if I remember correctly, the subject of the remake of 'Sleuth' is dealt with in the interview I mentioned on TCM 2.

There is an interesting article in the Sunday Times site, which mentions that Jude Law spent 5 days in the Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands.

Apparently, he has promised to host a play in London called 'Thula Sizwe'.

I don't know specifics, it just caught my attention.

Anybody know what "Thula Sizwe" means? An expression, or a proper name?
