I'm fairly sure that you are referring to "Monuments to Courage" by the late David Harvey.

Dear Tony,
In addition to David Harvey's books - there are under preparation a two volume set being sponsored by MoD - probably still about 1-2 years away from publication. The problem is there is a lot of mis-information about the holders of the VC. For instance, the citations will be corrected quoted for the first time. Many authors in the past have edited them. The volumes will also include holders of George Cross. |

Hi Tony
Monuments to Courage is an outstanding publication and well worth tracking down. David Harvey was a true trailblazer in the field of Victoria Cross research. He spent 36 years putting Monuments to Courage together and honestly it's a historical VC bible. I had the pleasure of working with David post Monuments and we were talking about pulling together a second edition of updates a project I'm currently working on in his memory. I understand David sold the rights to Naval & Military Press so they might have copies otherwise abebooks might be worth a try. All the best mate Andy |

Dear Andy,
thanks for the info. That's more than half a lifetime spent on the book. The asking price on abebooks for this 'monument to dedication' is probably only a fraction of what was spent on reseach by David Harvey.I'll have a look in Naval Military and Press as I have an account with them via their WW1 'Kitchener Rolls'.Cheers. Tony. |
