As someone who would like to try and understand the Zulus, I found this title will become available Feb.(?) next year. One of the 3 authors being John Laband.

It is hardcover, 600+ plus pages, but at a price around 75.00.

In saying that, it apparently was specially commissioned, and seems quite authoritative on the Zulus from way back until now.

Might be worth the cost.

Coll,

75 is steep! I might need some good reviews before I put my hand in my pocket.

I understand your hesitation.

How can we learn, when sources are beyond our finances ?

I've only recently been aware of 'The Archives of Zululand' on Amazon, but at 1,200.00 !

I know the information it contains is probably termed 'priceless', but I'll always be a novice, if information is priced well beyond my means.

Coll,

As previously stated on this forum, the cost of the AoZ really does make Keith Smith's book excellent value.

Yes. It was just an example of how much is being asked for some books.

I'm reminded of when I was wanting to pursue my firearms interest, by updating 'Jane's Infantry Weapons' every year. That is, until I saw the price rise.

The first time I bought a copy, it was 150.00.

10 years later, it had went up to 350.00.

So any idea of collecting them didn't last long.

However, in saying that, I've got 4 different editions from the late 70s, early 80s, for extremely reasonable prices and conditions, from a good firearm book supplier.

I'll just wait a few years, to get other editions from the late 80s, early 90s and late 90s. Hopefully, again at a more realistic cost.

I'm willing to pay quite a lot for a book I'm after, but there is a limit.

I feel there should be some sort of 'ceiling' to book costs.
