Sorry, it's a Swinburne, look at the shape of the back of the reciever notice the large cocking lever in place of the cocking indicator. |

Well I'll be hornswaggled!, see what you mean, it looks like a bitsa piece wouldn't you say. I havent seen a rifle with a Swim reciever before, although I did once inspect a sporterised S-H which appeared to be a shortened rifle, gunmaker was James Hall, gunmaker Durban.
The forend looks like it is off a Mk2 rifle forend with a cross pin, also the knoxform looks to be off a Mk2, but the hump and the indicator are swimburne. Well ya live and learn. I'll have another look at the film (could be the 1000 time tonight!). |

Right before Hitch gets one in the leg (he fires then takes off his helmet), he switch's to a Martini, The films armorer must of been just handing them out and not thinking about continuity..

Yes they weren't even thinking about Fred Hitch, let alone what mark of rifle he might have been carrying!
Fred was shot at the junction of the north wall and the retrenchment barricade. Cpl Allen (army spelling!) was nowhere near him at the time. 'Can you move yer leg?' 'I should have thought so corporal - I was shot in the shoulder'!!! As ever M |

Mike I need to talk to you about the range experiment, I have six volunteers now, all FAC holders, plus about 200 rounds of MH ammo to blast away between us. Neil |
