Ahh, well done! A touch, I do confess it. I didn't even think of that, John. Cy Endfield's Socialist leanings and his persona non grata emeritus status certainly would have "scotched" any film site for ZULU in the USA toot suite. McCarthy was "condemned" by the US Senate in the mid fifties, but that was more a condemnation of the man rather than the message (I'm was a tad young to speak from personal experience). Anti-communist sentiments still must have run strongly a decade later, what with the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy's assassination, and so forth.And I can imagine how Endfield felt at that point about the USA as well.

And now for something completely different-- a man in a rubber suit! I was looking at the American one-sheet advert for ZULU and among the montage of images there on is a sketch of the aforementioned Zulu warrior in the precise pose pictured above. The artist must have been working off actual stills from the movie because there in his rendering is the very same, now infamous, rubber suit.
