Martini Henry Shooters Link list |
The Double D
|
Over the years I have compiled a list of Internet links for those who like to collect and shoot the Martini Henry (all Martini's actually)
Lately I have been expanding the list beyond the internet. If you have any links to add you will find my email address in the list. I update the list twice a year. Jason Atkins host the list on his www.martinihenry.com website. Just click on this link to be taken there: Internet Sites for Martini's, Related Material and Subjects |

Every thing you need to load the MH is on that link list. There is links to several Martini Henry Discussion boards where you wil find folks most willing to share their knowlege with you.
Gunboards Martini Forum - http://www.gunboards.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=14 Martini-Henry Collector's Forum - http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/Martini-Henry/Martini.pl British Militaria Forum - www.martiniforum.org rimfirecentral.com forums, other rimfire guns, Martinis - http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=315c854562d3e43198c7ac27d012d84d&forumid=69 That list will also help you locate brass and loaded ammo a lot cheaper than you are citing. Jamison Brass has just come out with Martini brass and they have it down to $2 a case, thats down from $5 for a Kynoch case. CBC 32 Guage shotgun brass can be formed into Martini cases and works quite well. $16.95 for 25 cases, and I can even help you find a guy to form your cases for you. Malcolm Cobb will be coming out with book called the The Martini Henry Note Book in the next couple of weeks and that will useful to help you get started. The best starting load is the LoC load. 85 grs. of Fg (RFG 2 equiviant)card wad over powder 1/2 inch grease cookie, two card wads and a .464 480 gr bullet. From this base you can experiment with paper patching, different powders, wad, bullet and grease cookies. If you are in the U.S. you can join other Martini Shooters in the various Martini playdays being held. There was one yesterday in Kentucky and one coming up in November in Massachusetts. The UK Martini folks are always getting together at Bisley. |

I'm used to FFG for my 1863 Springfield. Can FFG or FFFG be used. Mike |

Forget the MK III, i just got a beautifull MK I 1873 in near perfect condition.
It retains nearly 98% finish and has only one ding on the forestock. I feel like a kid with a new toy. |

Sorry been busy. FFG can be used but will be a bit energetic. Don't use FFFg much to energetic. FG is good. I am currently using 95 grs. of Swiss 1 1/2 FG. It is robust and accurate. |

Thanks for the info, I want to use only "Black powder" because of the low breech pressure. I have a friend who bought a MK II from IMA and is reloading with smokeless powder. I told him to wear a K-pot and body armor when shooting.
I am 100% ignorant when it comes to reloading. I just got a .458 bore snake at Cabela's yesterday and ran it thru a few times...It went from a dark bore to a bright shiny one |

I just found out that Cabela's now sells loaded 577/450 ammo 20 rounds for $59.99. .452 Dia 500 Gr bullet.
If they are boxer primed, i think it's a good deal. www.cabelas.com Item#ZT-21-5402 202 |
