Does anyone know if most of the major actors are still alive or not? I know Stanley Baker and the actor who portrayed Surgeon Reynolds are deceased. Michael Caine is still living of course, but what about the rest?

I'm pretty sure the actor who played Corporal William Allen is a still alive, can't remember his name though. I think it's the same guy who played the owner of the Winchester Club in "Minder"

An hour on the internet this morning has produced the following:

David Kernan - Private Fred Hitch
Before Zulu was resident singer on "That Was The Week That Was". He is now a successful producer of musicals and revues, following years as a singer/actor.

Peter Gill OBE - Private John 612 Williams
Born 1939. Now a very successful playwright and theatre director. An Assistant Director of the Royal Court Theatre (1964) and an Associate Director (1970). Founder director of Riverside Studios (1976). Associate Director of the National Theatre (1980-1997). Founding Director of the Royal National Theatre Studio (1984-1990). http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/parade/abj76/PG/index.shtml

Glynn Edwards - Corporal William Allen
Now semi-retired, lives in Spain and houseboat on Thames, London. Yes, he was Dave on Minder.

Ivor Emmanuel - Private Owen

"An article in the "WESTERN MAIL" a few months ago, confirms that he is alive and well, living in Spain. He was seen on the S4C program, "Yr Archif" (The Archives) recently, when a review of TWW items were shown, including the program "LAND OF SONG" which was networked throughout the UK at that time , early 60's. Hope this settles the matter." (Dated 12-Nov-01)

Larry Taylor - Hughes
http://members.tripod.com/autograph_heaven/carryon/ltaylor1.htm
Emigrated to South Africa in 1974 and was still living there in November 1999. The source says he also appeared in Zulu Dawn but the DVD doesn't list him in the credits.

Of the production staff, those who should have been on the set of Zulu include:

Bert Batt (assistant director)
Still assistant director on films and TV up to four years ago

Robin Webb (Stunts)
Born 1945. Currently president of the International Stunt School. Is stunt co-ordinator on many films, mainly in Canada, including "The Affair" (2002).

Because some of the sources are undated there is no guarantee that all the above are still alive.

Tony,

Just to confirm, Larry Taylor was the non-commissioned officer giving the orders to the cannon to fire in 'Zulu Dawn'.

Freeze-frame it and you can clearly see it is him.

Chairman,
Anglo-Zulu War Research Society.
