Date | Original Topic | 30th April 2003 | Private Mason of Rorke's Drift By Bob Schooley My great-grandfather was a great friend of Charlie Mason, or Fred as he liked to be known. According to my grandmother Mason's grave was destroyed by vandals years ago but she can't remember exactly which cemetery he's in. Does anyone know where in London Mason is buried?
Great site!!

are you related to the schooley/masons? | 3rd May 2003 | Bob Schooley Thanks to everyone who has replied, especially with the names of the two cemeteries where I should look. I'm pretty sure I was taken to the grave as a child but with passing years and having spend so much time out of the country one tends to forget so much of ones past. My latest stay in London has, therefore, been something of a nostalgia trip. The added bonus of watching "Zulu" again in my hotel room the other week brought back all these old stories about Charlie Mason, of whom I really knew very little other than my grandmother's particular fondness given the way in which she spoke of him. I will endeavour to visit the cemeteries before I leave the UK next week just for old times sake.
Once again thanks to those who have taken the trouble of responding to my query. It really has opened my eyes to just how little I know about my own family.
