Hi Sally,
A) How many rounds of ammunition did each Ammo box contain ?
The ammo boxes held about 600 rounds each.
B) Do we know how many rounds of ammo were left after the Zulu's departed RD -
- In the ammo box's
- In the ammo pouches
Lt. Chard had stated that, by morning they had only a box and a half. That's about 900 rounds.
As far as the individual British soldier, very few rounds.

Well, hope that help.

My borther visited RD in February of this year and was told by the guides that 9,500 rounds of ammunition were fired. The Garrison had about 600 rounds left when the Zulu's departed from the battle site.
